  • Description

ORBSCURE RECORDINGS, There's now a new label that has Alex Paterson's projects appear all under one roof.
First up is Sedibus 'The Heavens' (28 May), the astonishing collaboration between Alex and original 1990 Orb flight-crew comrade Andy Falconer that takes the original deep space mission, imbuing it with 30 years of experience, skill and insight.

That's a pretty long time for two such old friends, but circumstances and fate had somehow always connived to keep them from working together again. That is until now.

The mesmerisingly weightless 'Papillons' hovers and glimmers like an infinite black hole for eleven minutes, fielding intergalactic detritus and cosmic showers, narrated by off-course astronauts, like a U.F. Orb for 2020. 'Unknowable' comes in on big piano chords and space chat, its eighteen minute orbit joined by ethereal guitar and pulses five minutes in that are joined by a star-skipping beat in its gossamer glow-worm mating dance.

Organic in feel and clearly referencing their shared roots. 'The Heavens' is an immersive journey of ambient electronica which not only references a source, but the distance travelled from that point of origin to something new.
