Description
Felmay presents The Code Talkers by Italian drummer, percussionist and composer Tiziano Tononi. After the folk-influenced adventure of Landscapes Vol. 1 (Songs In Opposition) (Felmay 2025), Tiziano Tononi returns to lead a quintet more focused on what the drummer from Milan considers the idiom of contemporary jazz. This time it has an almost chamber-like connotation at many times, due both to the instrumentation and to the musicians involved. We have here a very contemporary-sounding group, with alto clarinet, bassoon, viola, acoustic bass and percussion - lighter and more transparent sounding textures, if compared to a legit jazz combo featuring Gianluigi Trovesi, Roger Rota - switching here between bassoon and sopranino sax, Emanuele Parrini, Joe Fonda - playing flute, besides his double bass - and Tiziano Tononi, adding sounds from the world to his drumkit.
