Description
Celebrated bassist and composer Jasper Høiby presents 'We Must Fight' - an album that reimagines his music, from some of the most celebrated Phronesis albums including 'Alive', 'Walking Dark', 'Parallax' and 'We Are All', with his collaborative and exploratory ensemble, Fellow Creatures, featuring new arrangements by the lauded and pioneering saxophonist, composer and arranger, Alex Hitchcock.
Featuring a richly textured group including oud player Saied Silbak, flautist Ketija Ringa Karahona, pianist Xavi Torres, and drummer Luca Caruso, bringing voices from London, Palestine, and Spain, 'We Must Fight' speaks plainly about the times we live in: a moment when basic rights and democratic ideals are under threat. 'We Must Fight' is an album that recognises the importance of the collective voice, to use art forms as a vehicle to call to action, to defend what matters and to use the freedoms afforded to us to support those without. Despite everything it's a positive statement about continuity, spirit, and the creative instinct to keep moving forward.
"Hoiby fashions his pieces so the lines between freedom and form are beautifully blurred, the music flows as a tumultuous organic whole - everything belongs, nothing is forced."- MOJO
