Description
TRIPTYCH - New Works for Low Flutes offers three contemporary perspectives on the expressive depth and versatility of the alto and bass flute. From Amanda Harberg's luminous nocturnal landscapes and Alyssa Mercedes Mena's introspective, multi-movement narrative of identity and resilience to Daniel Dorff's evocative, jazz-inflected and atmospheric trio of works, the album reveals a rich spectrum of sound worlds. Each composition explores the low flute's capacity for lyricism, color, and rhythmic vitality, shaped through close collaboration with performers. Together, these works trace journeys of imagination, memory, and transformation, positioning the low flute as a powerful voice in today's chamber music landscape. Performed by Wendy Stern (alto and bass flute); Kathleen Nester (alto and bass flute); Amanda Harberg and Katie Lueng (piano).
