Description
The two violin concertos heard on the CD have in common that they were composed with great violinists in mind. In Mendelssohn's case, it was the violin virtuoso Ferdinand David. There is an interesting correspondence about the E minor Violin Concerto and the friendship between Mendelssohn and David, which is very informative and exciting to read. And the Bruch Concerto is unthinkable without Sarasate. Both works are based on a similar foundation. What the works have in common, however, is that they are two completely different masterpieces, each telling a completely different story". This combination creates many moments of suspense, at least I hope so when people listen to this CD. (Mikhail Pochekin) "
