Description
Marie-Luise Bodendorff, born in Augsburg in 1983, studied with Vladimir Krainev in Hannover and earned soloist diplomas in both Hannover and Copenhagen. As a soloist, she has performed internationally with numerous orchestras and at prestigious festivals, including appearances in the Forbidden City and at the Tivoli Festival. Since 2021, she has been recording the complete piano works of Friedrich Kuhlau for the Danish label DaCapo, with Vol. 2 named "CD of the Week" by MDR.
The fact that Niels Wilhelm Gade became famous as a composer primarily for his symphonic and concertante music is probably one of the reasons why his piano music, despite being widely published in print during his lifetime, has been relegated to the shadows. Marie-Luise Bodendorff presents a selection of Gade's piano works here, which makes it clear that we should revise our image of Gade.
