Description
Oojami is the brainchild of Necmi Cavli, who moved to London in the nineties. Excited by the emerging crossover culture he created the reknowned Hubble Bubble club where bellydancing, sufi dancers and the traditional sounds of oud and darbuka would mix with electronica from the UK dance culture.
This is their third album on Miles Copeland’s (ex-manager of Sting and the Police) label CIA. Upbeat and hypnotic, Oojami maintain their position as one of the most exciting collectives on todays global beat scene creating a party vibe wherever they go. Turkish influenced breakbeat rhythms ensure a highly danceable form of world fusion.
“This is an impressive, energising release that puts the fun back into ‘world’ music.” **** Observer Music Monthly
“A thrillingly frenetic, rootsy yet hard-edged sound.” - Time Out

They have appeared on a number of compilations and soundtracks including Rough Guide to Arabesque, Arabica II, Istanbul the Sex the City, Charlie Gillett’s 'World' series and the cult film ‘Dirty Pretty Things’.
