Description
Johannes Brahms was baptized in St. Michael's Church in Hamburg in 1833, and on this recording he returns to this site. Christoph Schoener, the organist and church music director at St. Michael's, honours his famous fellow Hamburg citizen with a special tribute.
Three variation works by this Hansa town's musical great are heard in transpositions for the organ on this program, and on the mighty three-in-one St. Michael's Church organ the result is a dimension-blasting room effect.
Recorded in MDG's original three-dimensional 2+2+2 sound, the illusion of the magnificent church interior is perfect
when we close our eyes; all three organs stand rock solid in their places and unite to produce a magnificent sound panorama displaying 145 stops. In addition, the high-resolution Super Audio CD conveys the full dynamic spectrum of the instruments right into your living room – absolutely mind-blowing!
