The latest title on our dedicated 90s imprint 90/9 is a triple-disc Deluxe Edition of the 1996 debut set from trailblazing technopop punk rockers Republica, fronted by the inimitable Saffron.
Defying categorisation with their punk rock sensibility, sheer pop appeal and impeccable dance floor credentials, Republica nevertheless became darlings of the Britpop era and frontwoman Saffron a striking, scarlet-haired fashion icon. Signed in 1993 to the iconic deconstruction label, they quickly established a devoted club audience in the UK but broke through three years later with the Stateside success of the indelible crossover anthem ‘Ready to Go’ and the blistering follow-up ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’.
As they put the finishing touches to their long-awaited new studio album, Republica have a string of live dates lined up for 2020, kicking off at the Dome in London on February 8th - coinciding with the release of this Deluxe Edition. They’re back - and ready to go!
