Description
Don Schlitten, the man who had a lot to do with Cecil Payne and Duke Jordan's recording for Signal 18 years before, was responsible for bringing them together again for this important 1973 reunion: their seventh joint recorded encounter, and the first in eleven years. Stalwart bassist Sam Jones and drummer Al Foster complete the quartet. The programme was designed to showcase Jordan and Payne both as composers and as soloists. Brooklyn Brothers is truly a meeting of kindred spirits in perfect harmony and one of the most satisfying sessions they ever put down together.
Personnel: Cecil Payne (baritone saxophone & flute), Duke Jordan (piano), Sam Jones (bass), Al Foster (drums)
Recorded by Paul Goodman (RCA), New York City, March 16, 1973. Mastered by Joe Brescio at Master Cutting Room, New York City.
