Description
The Budapest Quartet, which in its history has often changed the membership, according to the international criticism reached its top with the members that between the fifties and sixties have recorded for the American CBS. It is precisely with these four soloists that the Quartet performs in this Album a twentieth-century typical repertoire, ranging from Debussy to Lutoslavski. Leaving aside the Debussy and Ravel a Quartets, a typical discographic pair, in this Album it is of great interest the interpretation of the Op. 56 Quartet of Sibelius, in those times a(the Fifties) rarely executed, and especially the Lutoslavski Quartet, still today almost unknown, of which the Budapest Quartet gave the first world performance in 1965, which is the same that is presented in this album.
