Description
Gottlieb Muffat (1690-1770) was an Austrian composer, organist, and harpsichordist of the late Baroque era. Born in Passau, he was the son of the well-known composer Georg Muffat. Gottlieb spent much of his life in Vienna, where he became a prominent figure at the Habsburg court, serving as an organist and eventually as Kapellmeister to Empress Maria Theresa. The album features harpsichordist Roberto Loreggian, whose refined performance brings Muffat's intricate suites to life. He previously recorded Muffat's 1739 Componimenti Musicali, to which this new release is a sequel.
