In Brazil, music is part of the national identity. As a result, it is present in the daily lives of people of all ages. Brazilian music is truly real-world music, as it is recognized and played all over the world and exerts influence on wide-range of musicians. Brazilian pop music, known as MPB since the 1930s, enjoys tremendous popularity both at home and abroad. Though it never makes the Top 40, there is a large amount of diverse regional music with which local musicians constantly experiment.
