It explores a central but enigmatic episode in the Old Testament: when Abraham and Sarah are visited by three mysterious strangers...Clemency was commissioned by Boston Lyric Opera, together with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Scottish Opera and Britten Sinfonia.
