Description
The music of this experienced band can probably best be described as "contemporary blues" - The repertoire is not limited to the standard blues idiom, but following the example of their, mostly African-American, heroes, it is mixed with other black American roots styles such as soul, funk and R&B.
It is therefore not surprising that the band is regularly asked to accompany American artists during European tours. The circle was almost complete when Harry's greatest inspiration Joe Louis Walker asked the band to accompany him during a European performance. This was repeated several times afterwards. Harry also played second guitar a number of times in Joe's own band; The Bosstalkers.
The circle was completely complete when Walker covered the song "Send You Back" written by Harry and his wife Denise on his album "Between A Rock And The Blues."
Other artists with whom Fat Harry and/or The Fuzzy Licks have collaborated; Preston Shannon, Henry Oden, Joey Gilmore, Kat Riggins, John Primer, Curtis Salgado, Robbin Kapsalis, Craig Horton, Giles Robson, Super Chikan, Melvia "Chick" Rodgers, Sax Gordon Beadle, Lurrie Bell, Taildragger, Steve Arvey and Rip Lee Pryor.
In 2014, Harry and Jan de Ligt were nominated for a Dutch Blues Award in the respective categories of guitar and sax, which Jan very rightly won.
This new album features Joe Louis Walker, with what probably is hi last studio work, on I'm Gonna Leave You.
