Description
The Waterson Family celebrate 50 years as Britain's First Family of Folk with a homecoming concert at Hull Truck Theatre.
The Waterson Family celebrate a half century at the forefront of English folk music with a special performance of their best-known songs in a live homecoming concert in Hull. Acknowledged as a major influence on the folk revival of the early 1960s and the inspiration for the folk-rock sound which was to follow, the Watersons have since earned countless awards and accolades across the decades for their uniquely distinctive acapella vocal sound.
In the Sixties their cult status earned them the title of "The Folk Beatles". Later they were lauded as the "First Family of Folk". Fifty years on, Norma and Mike Waterson from the original quartet are joined on stage by Norma's husband, Martin Carthy, their daughter Eliza, Mike's wife Ann and their daughters, Rachel and Eleanor, and Lal's son and daughter, Oliver Knight and Marry Waterson. Their performance at Hull Truck Theatre has already been described by Radio 2 folk presenter Mike Harding as: "The folk event of the decade." This unique DVD features the entire two-hour concert, plus exclusive interviews with Norma, Mike, Martin and Eliza.
