  • Description

When Blackie & the Rodeo Kings assembled in 2006 at the legendary Bearsville Studio to record their fourth album, the 2007 Juno Nominated 'Let's Frolic', their intention was to record a single CD. The sessions went so well, were so creative and fun that they ended up recording 29 songs, too much for just one CD.

And so we present to you Let's Frolic Again. With long time collaborators Richard Bell (keyboards), John Dymond (bass) and Gary Craig (drums) and guest appearances from Garth Hudson (the Band), Jimmy Weider, Malcolm Burn and John Wynot, Blackie has produced one of their most satisfying and inspired efforts to date. The album is looser and more rootsy then its predecessor and features a number of classic cover's including killer versions of Murray McLauchlan's "Down By The Henry Moore", Teenage Head's "Something On My Mind" and two from Blackie inspiration Willie P Bennett; "Don't Blame Your Blues On Me" and "Sometimes It Comes So Easy". Other stand-outs include "There's No One Like You After All" and "How Long", both originals.

When listening to this CD you feel as if you are actually sitting in as you hear some of the in between track chatter and counting in. The playing is stellar, the singing soulful and the overall results spectacular.
