Description
Recorded in the solitude of an attic on the French side of the Pyrenees, The Dragging Poison marks the first full length opus from Noirsuaire, the one-man vessel of creator N. Conceived in isolation, the album channels the raw and arcane spirit of the late '90s French Black Metal underground, drawing upon the same venomous well that birthed cult entities such as Bekhira, Seigneur Voland and Funeral, while summoning the spectral aura of Nastrond, Marduk and Cultes des Ghoules. Mixed and mastered with unflinching precision by Sebastien Tuvi at BST Studios (known for his work with Hell Militia, Sotherion), the record strikes the perfect balance between suffocating atmosphere and scything aggression. Contributions from select guests add further depth to the cursed liturgy: young organist Mildrac imbues the interlude "Withering Veins" with ecclesiastical grandeur, while BST himself lends venomous vocal incantations to "Fogged By The Leaves of Pestilence"-a piece dedicated to Nisse Karlen of Sacramentum. Thematically, The Dragging Poison delves into the shadows of forgotten European folklore, the nocturnal hunger of vampirism, and the solemn path of old-fashioned Devil worship. These obsessions are clothed in a visual mantle of darkness through the cover art of acclaimed painter David Thierree (Behemoth, Warloghe), whose work mirrors the album's aura of archaic malignancy. The Dragging Poison is not an attempt at innovation-it is a statement of devotion. A poisoned chalice offered to those who still revere the cold, untamed essence of Black Metal as it once was: uncompromising, ritualistic, and unburdened by modernity.
