This CD presents Bill Perkins' first two studio albums as a leader, accompanied by his quintet with Richie Kamuca. Perkins' only previous album as a leader contained the material from two live nconcerts at Hollywood's Music Box Theater in 1956.
This edition begins with one of the two aforementioned studio albums, consisting of five songs recorded on October 29, 1956, with Kamuca and the original Hampton Hawes trio. The CD continues with the eight tracks from Perkins' other studio album, recorded in July of that same year. In closing, we added some of the tracks from the December 11 session - with Art Pepper replacing Kamuca - as bonus tracks. Includes a 12-page booklet.
