Description
The complete album + 2 bonus tracks - pressed on 180g red vinyl, contains new specially prepared liner notes by Penguin Guide to Jazz's writer Brian Morton and by Paris' prestigious Jazz Magazine. The Bill Evans-Scot LaFaro-Paul Motian Trio recorded two studio albums, but they would reach a climax with their June 25, 1961 club recordings at the Village Vanguard in New York. LaFaro would die in a car accident soon after (on July 6, 1961), at the age of twenty-five. Evans was so shocked by his bassist's death that he waited a long time before forming a new trio.
"This trio is still widely regarded as Evans' finest, largely because of the symbiotic interplay between its members. A great place to begin with Evans." - *****Thom Jurek, AllMusic
