BENNY GOODMAN
THE COMPLETE LEGENDARY 1938 CARNEGIE HALL CONCERT
LIMITED EDITION 8-PANEL DIGIPACK +16-PAGE BOOKLET
Benny Goodman's celebrated January 16, 1938 concert at Carnegie Hall was a landmark for many reasons: it was the first jazz concert at the prestigious venue, it integrated white and Afro-American stars on the same stage, and, above all, it produced glorious music which hasn't lost its magic after 80 years. Goodman was the star. He was featured with his orchestra, and in a variety of small groups, including combos with members of the Count Basie band, and Goodman's own Trio and Quartet with Teddy Wilson, Lionel Hampton, and Gene Krupa.
Presented here is the concert in its entirety plus, as a bonus, a complete Benny Goodman January 18, 1938 radio broadcast, recorded just two days after the great event.
