Following the success of Disco Recharge's recent Ian Levine produced Evelyn Thomas, James Wells and Miquel Brown packages, we're delighted add the brilliant Barbara Pennington to the series with 'Out Of The Darkest Night Plus' - a compilation of the best of Barbara's mid 1980s recordings.
Following her 1977 success with the magnificent '24 Hours A Day' (a No.1 Billboard Dance Chart smash) and her 1984 release of the charging 'All American Boy', Barbara decided she wanted to update her sound to something more contemporary for her next recordings and this proved a good choice when she hit paydirt with 'Fan The Flame' which supplied her first ever U.K. hit spending 3 weeks in the Top 75. This was swiftly followed by the wonderful 'On A Crowded Street' which dented the Top 60 U.K. chart for 5 weeks in mid-
1985.
Compiled by Simon White, 'Out Of The Darkest Night Plus' compiles and re-masters all of the key Barbara Pennington tracks from this period, mostly using versions and mixes which have not previously been easily available. Comprehensive sleeve notes by Simon White, also include a one-to-one interview with Ian Levine regarding these recordings along with key scans and photos from this era. As per usual, you can expect the usual standards that the Disco Recharge releases are renowned for.
