Description
The coronation of an emperor was a lengthy act of state that finally culminated in a magnificent coronation ceremony. For this, the most important composers of their time wrote the music and the best court bands travelled to perform it. After much research, the musician and musicologist Arno Paduch has compiled the music for the coronation of Emperor Leopold I in 1658, centring on a mass and coronation motets by Antonio Bertali. Timpani and trumpets, as a sign of imperial dignity, are of course not to be missed, and the Johann Rosenmuller Ensemble is also otherwise well cast with over thirty performers.
