Grummer, Schartel, Traxel, Wiener, Hotter; Cluytens
Description
Taken from a performance from Bayreuth in 1958, this recording is newly remastered.
The performance marked the occasion of Hans Hotter changing to the bass role of Pogner, giving a new reading of Eva’s father. The critics at the time deemed it less tender and more intellectual than is usual.
