Description
Founded in 1968, Birth Control were one of the pioneers of Krautrock creating one of the greatest Krautrock anthems.
The live recording on CD1 took place on May 1, 1977 at the city hall of Korbach in Northern Hesse. This show marked the debut appearance of Horst Stachelhaus on bass. Of particular interest is the track "Meta Ventilator" - until now only available on the Limited Fanclub release "Live Abortion" (1000 copies.) This re-mastered 22 minute version has the legendary bass solo by Horst Stachelhaus at the end.
CD2 was recorded at the Hamburg Fabrik on March 24, 1983. Here the band played nearly all of the tracks of the 1982 studio album Bäng. Unfortunately, it was one of the last performances by guitarist Bruno Frenzel who died after a severe illness in September the same year. With him, Germany's rock music scene lost one of their most innovative musicians and songwriters.
Bruno's death led to the provisional break up of Birth Control in 1984.It took nearly a decade until the reformed band started their remarkable resurrection with a concert at Balver Höhle in August 1993.
