The New England native has earned acclaim from Vice Noisey, Consequence Of Sound and NPR’s World Café for his ability to find profundity in the mundane machinations of everyday life — finding deeper meaning in the light from flatscreen televisions, the woosh of grocery store ACs, and Lil Wayne lyrics. It’s a gift that has been passed along his family for generations. Recorded in a mountainside house in Goshen, VT with engineer/co-producer Ethan West, ‘The Wilds’ opens with choral strains that give way to Jamison’s understated prologue on “Bright & Future.” From there, the album takes shape: “The Jacket” seeks to find authentic connection in a synthetic landscape, while “Through A Glass” traces a knowingly petulant infatuation with startling self-awareness. Jamison’s scattered observations coalesce on the honest, uncertain “Real Peach”: “If all is fair in love and war, then I don’t know what we are fighting for.”
