Description
Like many New Orleans residents, Marva Wright lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent breeching of the levees. For that reason she considers these recordings - her first since the hurricane struck - the most important of her lengthy career.
"When I say I lost everything, I mean everything," says an emotional Wright. "Every stick of furniture, every piece of clothing - I don't even have a photograph of my mother and father anymore. This album is important, first of all to show people I'm back and still singing, secondly I want to draw attention to New Orleans and what happened there."
