"War Lords" is the debut album from John Shaw and the Jazz Alliance, a Memphis-based straight-ahead-jazz ensemble. The songs on the album are largely original tunes written by John Shaw over the last ten years. The goal of the Jazz Alliance is to further the cause of straight-ahead jazz in an era where smooth jazz and fusion jazz have become the predominant forms of jazz music, and this album captures the unique sound and first-rate musicianship of our group members.
