Description
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Gary Husband releases his first recording for Abstract Logix since leading the highly acclaimed 'Force Majeure'.
Gary Husband is best known for associations with John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham, Allan Holdsworth, Jack Bruce and Level 42. This all-star group toured the UK in 2004 & 2005 via a Contemporary Music Network / BBC Radio 3 "Jazz on 3" commission and it's a measure of Husband's standing as a musician that he was joined by the likes of Randy Brecker, Jerry Goodman and Jim Beard.
After four piano or keyboard based solo offerings "Hotwired" now sees Gary (primarily) back in the drum chair and features seven electrifying jazz originals together with re-workings of standards such as Paul Desmond's "Take 5" and the Level 42 hit "Heaven In My Hands" (which, incidentally, Gary played on as a session drummer back in 1988). This new recording has a distinctly "European" feel and utilises dynamic saxophonist Julian Siegel, trumpeter Richard Turner and propulsive bassist Michael Janisch.
Personnel: Personnel: Gary Husband (drums, piano, synthesizer, electronics), Richard Turner (trumpet, electronics), Julian Siegel (tenor & soprano saxophones), Michael Janisch (acoustic bass)
