Description
Further explorations of Beatles' compositions by former Wings' guitarist (1978 - 1981) Laurence Juber recorded at Abbey Road's famed Studio 2. In the twenty-plus years since it was first suggested that Laurence Juber should record a set of Beatles tunes, this is his fourth albums in a series of "LJ Plays the Beatles".
'A Day in the Life' came out of a fresh opportunity to record at the famed Abbey Road Studios, in the very same studio the Beatles recorded so many years before - Studio 2. It was also in this very studio where LJ was recording in 1978 when he got the call to audition for Wings. He proceeded to work with Paul and Linda McCartney at the Abbey Road Studio, which became a second home during sessions for the 'Back to the Egg' album. That was the last time he had been there, until now.
Grammy winning guitarist Laurence Juber is a solo performer, recording artist, composer, and arranger. His playing fuses folk, jazz, blues, pop, and classical styles, creating a multi-faceted performance that belies the use of only one instrument. A music graduate of London's Goldsmith's College, he was featured guitar soloist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before becoming established as a studio musician in the mid-1970's, later that decade achieving internation recognition as lead guitarist in Paul McCartney's Wings, with whom he won a Grammy.
