Description
The complete album + 3 bonus tracks pressed on 180g blue vinyl.
This release presents the complete original LP 'Djangology' (RCA Victor), compiled in 1961 less than a decade after Django Reinhardt's premature death in 1953. Although the original album cover claimed to feature the Quintette du Hot Club de France, it actually presented music from a series of 1949 dates that reunited Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli in Rome with a local rhythm section.
This special edition on blue vinyl includes new cover artwork and specially prepared liner notes by Penguin Guide to Jazz's writer Brian Morton.
"The charm, the fire, and the innate swing of Reinhardt shine through the entire collection, making it a very welcome addition to the available Reinhardt discography." - ***** John S. Wilson, DownBeat
"Recorded in Rome during the winter of 1949, this is an excellent collection. Reinhardt's solos always display an excellent sense of arrangement, with his statements building both logically and emotionally to their climax. Djangology captures one of the greatest jazz guitarists in history in some of his greatest performances." - **** 1/2 Daniel Gioffre AllMusic
