Description
Beautiful Limited Edition Debut Double A Side 7" Single.
The British Public's debut double A side single 'Breasts/Bears' is a celebration of British peculiarity in all its guises through the medium of perfect, quirky rock. Is there anything better than a catchy three minute pop song where the bears attack and the high street breasts get bigger?
These adventures through the great and the grim of In-ger-land are the first threads unraveling in the intricate web of weirdness that inhabits the bursting brain of The British Public - aka Robert Gregory.
Rob Gregory has been recording music in one way or another since he was 13 years old. Under various guises his project hopping has landed him safely as songwriter and front-man of his irresistible incarnation – the British Public.
Slacker rock is back with a heavy dose of satire; endless irresistible hooks; words that catch fast in your head; and walls of heavy grunge-fuelled guitars. 'Breasts' and 'Bears' are the first tracks taken from the upcoming self-tilted debut album, and begin a series of beautiful limited-edition 7" double A-side singles.
A rollicking ride down a British high-street 'Breasts' is a little fire-cracker single to light up late summer with warm brass and a heavy dose of nostalgia while 'Bears' swirls together lyrical tongue twisters in to a rumbling shoe-gazer that creeps up and sticks claws deep in to the skin.
The British Public had no real birth place or starting point. A demo largely made up of random songs was recorded in a church in Fremantle, Western Australia, in January 2009. In May of the same year 'Breasts' and 'Bears' came to be in the Half Ton Studio in Cambridge – recorded, engineered, and mixed by Neil James Rogers (Buggs/Hofman).
The latest addition to the small, but perfectly formed, music community in Cambridge alongside bands including friends - the now sadly defunct – the Broken Family Band. Based around the artistic commune, all-night music and creativity brings together the cities finest mind expanding musicians – an atmosphere that spawned this alt-rock beast.
With inspired illustration from up-and-coming artist Russell Taysom (www.artrocker.tv/features/article/wear-your-art-on-your-sleeve-russell-taysom) and two glorious winter-warming tracks, the first release on the new indie label Tip Top Recordings is ultra-limited and something for the bears to hug or even fight over.
