Description
With Tenderness, T. Thomason builds a universe around central themes of self-acceptance and self-determination through purposeful expressions of queer and trans liberation. The album is the convergence of creative confidence and life experience, both a witness to and a catalyst for T.'s ever-growing presence and artistic vision.
The album opens with "True," a project thesis statement as it tells the story of the importance of trust when facing the unknown. In diaristic style throughout the album, T. navigates perception and expectation, both from the outside world and from within. Earnest and honest, the collection is centered around T.'s own journey, shared for the purpose of finding connection and joy with others.
Sonically, Tenderness boldly explores a wide array of pop sounds and touchstones, with moments of 90s emo, dance pop energy, and the silky chiffon of indie pop influences. From the title track, which features a co-write and guest appearance by Stars, and throughout the collection as a whole, Tenderness tells an important story of strength in community, featuring a range of international and Nova Scotian co-writers and producers.
