The debut solo album from flautist, Steph Geremia has been described by Irish Music Magazine as â€œan unexpected treasureâ€? and was picked as one of Folk Worlds â€˜top ten trad albums of 2009â€™. Steph Geremia performs and tours regularly as part of the Alan Kelly Quartet including the piano accordion maestro himself, Alan Kelly, Donogh Hennessy (guitarist and ex- founding member of the super-group LÃºnasa) and highly noted Clare fiddler, Tola Custy. She also continually performs with the New York based, award winning & avant-garde theatre company, Mabou Mines, in their production of 'Peter and Wendy', on the original score composed by the late Scottish fiddle player, Johnny Cunningham. Steph has performed, toured and guested with other highly acclaimed artists including: The Chieftains, Eddi Reader, Altan, Cherish The Ladies, Johnny â€˜Ringoâ€? McDonogh, Michael Rooney, LÃadan, and has performed as a solo artist at renowned festivals such as the Galway Arts Festival. Though being a long-time Irish resident, Steph hails originally from New York where she first began playing traditional music. She moved to County Sligo in her late teens and immersed herself in the Sligo/Roscommon style of flute playing and was taken under the wing of several of the great players from that area including Peter Horan, with whom she played with regularly for several years.
