Description
Michael Somerset began his career with Sheffield's iconic Clock DVA. He left to create his own music, signed to Branson's Virgin Records and up-sticked to his spiritual home Detroit, Michigan to make two albums with Don Was and his mutant disco orchestra Was (not Was). After Alison Moyet covered the lead track on second album "Weak in the Presence of Beauty " and turned it into a multi-million selling radio perennial, Ward disappeared into the studios of Europe and the US as a freelance writer. In the last few years he has been the song writing element of Richard "Parrot" Barratt's underground politico house combo Crooked Man (DFA records).
Myzlkypop gives us with "a work of fiction pre-Pandemic, pre-Referendum" where avant-pop from Zappa to Ze Records shines through this meticulously crafted song cycle, played on vintage instruments and uniquely voiced by Sylwia Anna Drwal in an entirely European voice that is cliché free and commands the song.
