Description
Three sessions from 1970, 1971 and 1977, each featuring one of three great American musicians of the post-bebop era: Sahib Shihab on baritone saxophone, Art Farmer on flugelhorn, and Clifford Jordan on tenor saxophone, guesting with the Swiss group the Jazz Live Trio.
Featuring mainly jazz standards, including Thelonious Monk's "Well You Needn't", Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood", and Milt Jackson's "Bag's Groove", there are also two wonderful compositions from Clifford Jordan, "Japanese Dreams" and "Inward Fire", both of which appear to be his only recorded 'live' versions.
This is Volume 32 of TCB's Swiss Radio Days series, dedicated to reissuing rare concerts recorded for Swiss radio. This recording is part of the 'Jazz Live Trio Concert Series' where the station's resident group performed with internationally famous musicians who dropped in as featured soloists and guests of the trio.
Personnel: Sahib Shihab (baritone saxophone), Art Farmer (flugelhorn), Clifford Jordan (tenor saxophone), Klaus Koenig (piano), Peter Frei (bass), Peter Schmidlin, Alex Bally (drums)
