Description
Roseanne Reid's world has changed dramatically since the release of her highly acclaimed debut 'Trails' and not just because of what she calls 'the weird dream' of lockdown.
Becoming a parent has helped to inform and shape this delightful follow up album as this widely admired Scottish singer -songwriter invites us to Lawside. "This album just sounds much more self-assured throughout' says Roseanne. "I have tried to be bolder with the lyrics , bringing them front and centre which reflects that confidence I have in my voice I think". The album is named after the district of Dundee where most of the songs were written. 'Lawside' has influenced every one of these songs in some way so it felt right to recognise the area.
The album is actually closer to home in every sense having also been recorded Perth, just south of Dundee with producer and fellow Scot Dave Macfarlane. The more prolonged approach to recording suited them both providing the opportunity to hone the songs and ensure that Roseanne's new collection of songs , from the horn laden 'Call It Love' to the beautiful and tender ' All I Need' and 'Made Just For You' were reflective of here positive and forward facing attitude. The challenge of combining family life with touring to support the the album is something else that Roseanne is facing with the same exuberance.
A European tour supporting Steve Earle and Festival slots are just around the corner and there will be opportunities to see her perform 'Lawside' throughout 2023/2024.
